Global

Levitus Mean and Seasonal Data

Levitus (1982) (1994) has released a series of uniformly gridded climatologies of oceanic variables. The surface values are here, (values at depth are here).

Monthly Global Climatologies

These contain monthly data.

daSilva et al 1994 Surface Marine Atlas	-	over 30 variables available on both one-degree and half-degree grids.
SOC GASC97	-	The Southampton Oceanography Centre air-sea heat and momentum flux climatology (Josey et al. 1999).
HELLERMAN	-	Hellerman Climatological Wind Stress (Hellerman and Rosenstein 1983).
OBERHUBER	-	COADS climatology from Oberhuber.
OSU Surface Data	-	Averaged surface data from Esbensen and Kushnir (1981).
ISCCP	-	ISCCP Cloud Cover and Solar Radiation

ERBE Global Mean srb

These are surface radiation budget climatologies from ERBE (Li and Leighton 1993). Monthly data are also available.

Atlantic

Shipdrift	-	smoothed shipdrift data
SERVAIN MEAN	-	This is Servain Winds and SST. The mean over 25 years (64-88).
CHRIS MEAN	-	Christine wind stress averaged over 23 years (Cd:Large & Pond).

Pacific

RC	-	Rasmussen-Carpenter climatological sst and wind
FSU MEAN	-	This is the observed pseudo wind stress means, from FSU.
WEARE CLIMO	-	This is averaged surface data by Weare, averaged over 1957-1976 monthly
WEARE MEAN	-	This is averaged surface data by Weare, averaged over 1957-1976 annually
