Description: The red lines in the plots indicate the standardized, anomalous depth of the equatorial Pacific for the various regions indicated on the graphs. "WWV" refers to "warm water volume", which is the depth of water above the 20 deg. C isotherm. Black lines are the standardized NINO 3.4 sea surface temperature anomalies for the period 1982-present. A three-month running average is applied to both time series.
NCEP is
an acronym for the US National Centers for Environmental Prediction. |
