Climatologies

These climatologies give the monthly (or seasonal) behavior in an average year for temperature, precipitation, and wind.

Climatologies
The Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO) is a coupled ocean-atmosphere phenomena that, when it is active, organizes tropical atmospheric circulation at planetary scales into regions of enhanced and suppressed convection.
This map shows an animation of monthly climatological precipitation frequency -- the average number of days per month with measurable precipitation -- for the 1991-2020 base period.
This map shows an animation of the month-to-month change in monthly climatological precipitation (in mm/month) through the course of the year based on CAMS-OPI data using the 1991-2020 base period.
This map shows the percentage of annual precipitation that occurs during the indicated 3-month season, based upon climatological precipitation using the 1991-2020 base period from the monthly CPC Merged Analysis of Precipitation (CMAP) dataset.
This map shows an animation of monthly climatological precipitation (in mm/month) through the course of the year based on CAMS-OPI data using the 1991-2020 base period.
This map shows an animation of monthly climatological sea surface temperature (in °C) through the course of the year using the 1991-2020 base period.
Click anywhere over land on the map to see barplots of the local monthly climatology of precipitation, monthly average of daily maximum, minimum, and mean temperature, wet-day frequency, and ground frs frequency.
This map shows an animation of monthly climatological surface air temperature (in °C) through the course of the year using the 1991-2020 base period.
This map shows the monthly average wind climatology for the indicated month of the year and pressure level, using the 1991-2020 climatological base period.
This maproom can be used to understand and compare the impact of climate drivers and modes of climate variability on rainfall and sea surface temperature anomalies during three month seasons for different years.
